FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU WORK WITH CHILDREN?

I have found that my style, strengths, and skill set work best with adults.  I do not work with anyone who is under the age of 18.

HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET FOR THERAPY

Therapy is most effective when done frequently and consistently.  It is recommended that clients start therapy by being seen on a weekly basis and most clients continue to do so throughout the course of their time in therapy.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Each session will last approximately 45 minutes.  At times I may decide it makes sense to extend the session by 5 or 10 minutes in order to make sure the session ends in a therapeutic manner.

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?

Yes, I do.  My standard fee is $175.00 per session.  If you cannot afford the standard fee, I can slide down as low as $115 per session.  I also have a limited number of slots that I can slide lower than $115.  Please reach out to discuss your specific situation if you are interested in my sliding scale services.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

If you are paying out of pocket I accept all major credit cards/HSAs through IvyPay (a HIPAA compliant service for therapists) or Venmo.  I do not accept cash or checks at this time and you will need to use one of the approved payment methods listed above.

If you are paying through your insurance see the answer below.

DO YOU ACCEPT HEALTH INSURANCE?

Yes!  If you will be physically located in New York state at the time of your sessions I accept Oscar Health, United Healthcare, Oxford, and Aetna through Alma.  Alma is a private company that mental health care providers can use to take care of all the administrative paperwork involved with insurance.  This means in order to accept your insurance I would need to sign you up for Alma so they can process your initial and ongoing insurance paperwork and payments.  All copays will be paid through Alma, which require the use of a credit card.  All maters regarding in network insurance will be dealt with by Alma and have to be done in a manner that conforms to their polcicies and procedures.  Alma is simple to use and makes sure our sessions are about you and not about your insurance.  Unfortunately, at this time if you will be physically located in New Jersey at the time of your sessions I do not accept insurance and all sessions will have to be paid for out of pocket.

If you will be using Out of Network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill and any other documentation you might need.  You will be responsible for submitting this to the insurance company yourself.

DO YOU OFFER TELEHEALTH SERVICES?

Yes, I do.  In case you don’t know, "telehealth services" is the term being used for sessions done over the phone or over a video platform.  The expectation is that all sessions will be done over a video platform, but I am open to doing audio only calls on occasions when video is not an option.  For video I use SimplePractice, a HIPAA compliant service for health professionals.  SimplePractice is also the service I use for all Electronic Health Record services.

ARE YOU OFFERING IN PERSON SERVICES RIGHT NOW?

I am not currently offering any in person services.  All sessions currently being offered are telehealth sessions conducted over video platforms or over the phone.  I do not anticipate returning to in person services anytime in the near future.
